Ministry

Become a Minister Now!

If you belong to Jesus Christ, you are not “just a layperson.” Scripture calls every true believer to serve (minister) in the Body of Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

First, a simple self-check

Ask yourself:

  • Have you accepted Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for your sins?
  • Have you been baptized (by immersion) as a response of faith and repentance?
  • Have you received the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands?
  • Are you actively repenting and walking with God to purify your character?

If you can honestly say “yes,” then biblically you are already a minister (a servant) of the Most High God— called to use the gifts He has placed in you.

Note: “Minister” here means a Spirit-led servant of God, not necessarily a pastor/elder/overseer office.

Priesthood

God describes His people as a priesthood—called to represent Him and proclaim His works.

  • 1 Peter 2:9 — “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood… that ye should shew forth the praises of him…”
  • Revelation 1:6 — Christ “hath made us kings and priests unto God…”
  • 2 Corinthians 5:18–20 — God “hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation… we are ambassadors for Christ.”

Gifts

The Holy Spirit gives gifts to every believer—so that every believer can serve.

  • 1 Corinthians 12:7 — “the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.”
  • 1 Corinthians 12:11 — the Spirit distributes “to every man severally as he will.”
  • Romans 12:4–6 — “members… have not the same office… having then gifts differing…”
  • 1 Peter 4:10 — “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same…”

Ministry

Leaders equip the saints, because the saints do real ministry.

  • Ephesians 4:11–12 — leaders are given “for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry…”
  • Ephesians 4:16 — the body grows “according to the effectual working in the measure of every part.”
  • Acts 1:8 — “ye shall receive power… and ye shall be witnesses unto me…”

Baptism Authority

Scripture never says “only clergy may baptize.” The command is tied to making disciples, and examples show disciples baptizing.

  • Matthew 28:19–20 — “Go… make disciplesbaptizing them…”
  • John 4:2 — Jesus baptized not, “but his disciples.”
  • Acts 8:36–38 — Philip baptized the Ethiopian.
  • Acts 9:17–18 — Ananias ministered to Saul; Saul “arose, and was baptized.”
  • 1 Corinthians 1:14–17 — Paul implies many were baptized by others, not only by him.

Criteria

The New Testament emphasizes clear criteria for the person being baptized, while not listing a special “office” requirement for the baptizer.

For the person being baptized

  • Acts 2:38 — “Repent, and be baptized…”
  • Acts 8:12 — “when they believed… they were baptized…”
  • Acts 16:31–33 — “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ…” and then they were baptized.
  • Romans 6:3–4 — baptism pictures being buried and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life.

For the baptizer

  • A disciple of Jesus participating in disciple-making (Matthew 28:19–20).
  • Acts shows baptizing done in connection with the gospel and the community of believers (Acts 8; Acts 10; Acts 19).
  • Whenever possible, baptize with order, clarity, and love—not confusion or rivalry (1 Corinthians 14:40).

Scripture quotations above are from the King James Version (KJV).

Want to Be Baptized?

This section is only for people who want to be baptized and begin walking in the way of Jesus Christ. It is not a request to become a baptizer.

  • You are not required to baptize others. This request is simply for help finding baptism and biblical guidance near you.
  • If you are baptized and Spirit-led, you are called to minister. That means serving others in whatever way the Holy Spirit leads and gifts you—prayer, encouragement, teaching, helping, giving, hospitality, and more (see the Gifts and Ministry sections above).
  • We will ask for your location details (town/city, ZIP or postal code, and country) so we can help connect you in your area.

Worldwide Baptizer Network

We are building a simple, Christ-centered network of ministers, elders, deacons, and baptized lay members who are Spirit-led and willing to serve as baptizers in their own neighborhood or town.

  • Who can join: Ministers, elders, deacons, and baptized, Spirit-led lay members who are walking in repentance, seeking holiness, and willing to serve with humility and good order.
  • Purpose: Help sincere, repentant believers take the next step in obedience through baptism, and connect them to ongoing discipleship and spiritual growth.
  • Local first: Ministry starts where you are—family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and your community.
  • Order matters: This is not about “power,” but about serving God and people with clear teaching, wise counsel, and a humble spirit.

How to prepare yourself to baptize

  1. Walk in repentance and prayer. Keep short accounts with God, forgive others, and seek purity of heart (Acts 2:38; 1 Peter 4:10–11).
  2. Be grounded in the gospel. Be ready to clearly explain repentance, faith in Jesus, and what baptism means (Matthew 28:19–20; Romans 6:3–4).
  3. Confirm the candidate’s faith. Ask for a simple confession of faith in Jesus Christ and a desire to obey Him (Acts 8:36–38; Acts 16:31–33).
  4. Use wisdom and accountability. When possible, include another mature believer as a witness, choose a safe setting, and respect modesty and consent.
  5. Stay humble and Spirit-led. You are serving Christ and His people; the focus is obedience, not performance (1 Corinthians 12:7; Ephesians 4:11–12).

A simple step-by-step guide to baptize someone

  1. Teach briefly. Explain that baptism is obedience to Christ and a public identification with Him—buried with Christ and raised to new life (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3–4).
  2. Ask for confession. “Do you repent and believe in Jesus Christ as Lord?” (Acts 2:38; Acts 8:37*).
  3. Pray. Ask the Father to strengthen and guide the new believer by the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8; Ephesians 1:13).
  4. Go into the water. Hold the person securely and ensure they are comfortable and ready.
  5. Baptize. “Upon your confession of faith, I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,” and gently immerse them fully in water, then lift them up.
  6. Bless and encourage. Pray again, encourage them to continue in the Word and fellowship, and begin a discipleship walk (Acts 2:42; John 8:31–32).
  7. Lay on hands and pray for the Holy Spirit. Lay hands on the individual and ask God to fill them with the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and ask Christ to send the Comforter to help them in all things (Acts 8:17; Acts 19:6; John 14:26).

*Note: Some Bible translations include Acts 8:37 and some do not; the confession of faith is still clearly taught throughout the New Testament (e.g., Acts 16:31–33; Romans 10:9–10).

Worldwide Discipleship Program — Coming Soon

Biblical discipleship is a lifelong walk of learning Christ, obeying His words, growing in godly character, and helping others do the same. We are preparing a simple, Scripture-first program to help new believers begin walking in the Way—locally, personally, and faithfully.

  • Follow Jesus daily — deny self and take up your cross (Luke 9:23).
  • Continue in His word — disciples abide in truth (John 8:31–32).
  • Learn to obey all that Christ commanded (Matthew 28:19–20).
  • Devote yourself to the basics: teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayers (Acts 2:42).
  • Grow in Christlike character — be transformed and bear the fruit of the Spirit (Romans 12:2; Galatians 5:22–23).
  • Abide and bear fruit that glorifies the Father (John 15:5, 8).
  • Pass it on — train faithful people who can teach others also (2 Timothy 2:2).
  • Love identifies disciples (John 13:34–35).
