The Keys to Success

Success is not getting your way. It is learning God's way—and walking in it.

When Scripture talks about blessing, growth, wisdom, and eternal life, it points us back to one foundation: hearing God's Word and obeying it (James 1:22). One of the clearest ways God teaches His plan is through His appointed times—the weekly Sabbath and the annual Holy Days (Leviticus 23:1–4).

The big idea

God built a spiritual roadmap into time itself. The seventh-day Sabbath (Saturday) is a weekly sign between God and His people (Exodus 31:13–17; Ezekiel 20:12, 20). And the Holy Days show the steps of God's plan—from Christ our Passover, to the giving of the Holy Spirit, to the return of Jesus Christ, the binding of Satan, the Kingdom of God, and finally the New Heaven and New Earth.

A simple prayer you can start with:
“Father, teach me Your plan. Give me a heart that loves Your commandments, and open my eyes to see Jesus Christ throughout all Your Word.” (see Psalm 119:18; John 14:15)

Key #1 — Keep the Sabbath holy

The Sabbath starts at creation (Genesis 2:2–3), is commanded in the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:8–11), and is called a sign that God sanctifies His people (Exodus 31:13).

Jesus kept the Sabbath as His custom (Luke 4:16) and called Himself “Lord of the Sabbath” (Mark 2:27–28). If we love Him, we keep His commandments (John 14:15).

Creation rooted Commanded Christ honored A sign

Key #2 — Understand the Holy Days

God calls these days “the feasts of the LORD” (Leviticus 23:2). They are not random rituals. They are a timeline that explains what God is doing with mankind.

The apostles continued teaching and gathering in ways that matched God's calendar (Acts 13:42–44; Acts 20:16; 1 Corinthians 5:7–8; Acts 2:1–4).

Why this matters: firstfruits and the future

God is calling a people now—His “called-out ones”—to learn His ways, to be transformed, and to serve as a preview of what He will one day teach the whole world (James 1:18; Revelation 14:4).

The Sabbath is a weekly sign that God sanctifies His people (Exodus 31:13). The Holy Days are a yearly reminder that Christ is at the center of the plan, that the Spirit empowers obedience, and that the Kingdom is coming.

A simple weekly practice

  • Prepare (before sunset): plan ahead so you can rest without scrambling.
  • Gather: worship, read Scripture, and talk through what God is teaching you.
  • Delight: let it be a gift—time with God, time with family, time with peace (Isaiah 58:13–14).

A simple yearly practice

  • Mark the seasons: read Leviticus 23 and the New Testament fulfillments as the year unfolds.
  • Ask the big questions: “Where am I in the process—repentance, growth, Spirit-led living, readiness?”
  • Keep the Kingdom in view: the end is not chaos; it is Christ reigning and God dwelling with man (Revelation 21:3).
